This is real compassion!!!!
A lady found the fawn under her step (they think the doe might have been hit by a car) .. her Ridge Back dog is helping look after it. The family named the fawn Ella. Once she has regained her strength (she was not in good shape when the family found her) they are going to send her to some friends who (in the past) raised two orphan deer and released them to the wild. Right now she is being bottle fed. Their dog (Hogan) has basically taken over. The fawn even shares his bed.
THIS IS WHAT LOVE IS ALL ABOUT!!!
It was a busy morning and at approximately 8:30, an elderly gentleman in his 80s, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00.
I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound.
On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.
While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.
I inquired about her health and he told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.
I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?" He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."
I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arms, and thought, "that is the kind of love I want in my life."
True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.
The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. (Amen to that!)

A shelter’s "The night before Christmas"
"Twas the night before Christmas
Not a sound in the place
Behind all bars of the cages
Was a sad little face
No milk and no cookies
For a jolly old elf
Only needles spelling death
Lined up on a shelf
Each lonely mind thinking
I've been well behaved
Tryed hard to be good
Maybe then I'll be saved
In a cold sterile shelter
The little guys wait
For someone to save them
From a terrible fate
They all have in common
Their sweet little prayer
Is there someone to love me
To hold me and care
How did this happen
Oh what have I done
To deserve this cruel fate
My life's only begun
To cuddle and snuggle
I just need a warm lap
To be so at peace
For a nice little nap
I don't need a lot
Some water and food
On a day that's been tough
I'll lighten your mood
I have so much to give
And know that it's true
I'll love you forever
Bring you sunshine anew
You'll know so much joy
If you take me home
I'll be loyal to you
To stay, never roam
My unconditional love
Will enrich you each day
You'll be so glad you found me
And want me to stay
I need a hero
Just one, to pull through
Come now and adopt me
I'm waiting for you"
